Everyone, please welcome our new workcampers, Karen
and Vern Dettloff, who will be here for six months. I’m sure
you will see them around the Resort.
And we have another new employee, Ed Boring, who
is our part-time handy man, and boy has he been busy being handy!
We have so many wonderful volunteers and we really
value them. Some more of them are: Lavonne Hall and Kathleen Owens
for their bargain hunting expertise for furniture; Jerry Wick for all
the work he has done in the office on the telephone and cable wiring
helping to clean up the mess we have: Larry Owens for helping to paint
and apply numbers to your power panels trying to speed the progress
along; and special thanks to Dick and Nancy Noggle, Jack and Emily
Scott, and Jim and Nancy Scott for their help in moving the office
in and out for the new carpet. Also, special thanks to Laura Bettis
for her ongoing work sorting the mail daily and especially for her
cleaning ALL the new mailboxes.
Don’t you think it would be nice to have names
for our phases or loops instead of numbers? If everyone would think
of appropriate names for one or more of them, we could announce them
at the November meeting. When you come up with a name or names, please
let Nancy Scott know – she can be reached at lot #111, phone
843.341-3181, or by e-mail jimnancyscott@aol.com.
“Stay tuned” to this web page for
updates, so you will know what is going on at your Resort “while
you are away!”

Minutes
from Board Meetings
The Board had a conference call meeting on August 18. Four members
were present
at the Resort and two were “present by phone!” Some items of interest
that were discussed are - more advertising in campground guides; our new brochure
that is being developed; and new shuffleboard equipment and additional tables
and chairs for the pool area. The power project will be addressed below. The
major item was appointment of three new Board Members. Everyone welcomes the
addition of Ed Saylor (# 343); Jack Scott (#10); and Jim Taylor (#135)! The members
of the Board immediately voted to recommend the downsizing of the Board to seven
members.
The
Power Project
There have been delays and progress. Some of the delays came from Palmetto
Electric crews having to travel to Florida to help those without power during
this devastating hurricane season. Also, there were delays in receiving parts
due to the lengthy UL approval process. BUT the new boxes are arriving and
being installed now. It is a stepped process – first new transformers,
power lines and boxes, then new cable and telephone, then pedestal water faucets,
painting and numbers. And it is ALL happening now. October 15, is the date
that everyone will have power – either old or new. There will be a break,
then work will resume in January, with all work being completed summer of 2005.
New
Employees
Three new faces at our front desk/rental office and one administrative assistant!
Our new part-time employees are: Jerry Rudman, Eva Greer, and Evelyn Myers
in the Rental Office and Cheryl Graffo as the Assistant who will also be helping
with the marketing. Stop by and say “Hello” to their smiling faces!
Volunteerism
Some of our VERY talented owners have been doing a LOT of work for us.
Very grateful thanks go out to:
- Dick Noggle for everything he does;
- Jim Scott for the many projects he has completed
as well as being involved with the power project;
- Donna Girswold for her painting;
- Jack and Emily Scott for all their work in the
office and making all the “doggie” bags we give out;
- Jack Scott also preformed a number of required
modifications to the Resort computer systems;
- Fred and Martha Kirk for all they do - this time
the window and seat covers in the TV Room;
- Larry Owens for his help in refurbishing the pedestals;
- Larry Decker, Andy McCarrick, and Joe Albert for
their hard work on figuring out our water problems.
If that isn’t everyone,
please forgive me for my memory fade if I haven’t mentioned
your name, but we wouldn’t have made nearly as much progress
without our talented and very giving volunteers. Do you have a talent
or just want to help? Please share it with your Resort. We welcome
you to work with us!
New
Web Site, New Logo
We have beautiful new web page. Emily and Jack Scott, with Melissa Kornicki,
designed it, and it was then programmed by Melissa. It incorporates the newest
concepts in web imagining and information and also designed to grow as the
Resort grows and changes. The web page will enable us to communicate with each
other and receive feedback, reservations and sales on-line. It will be our
constant connection to others and source of information as to what is going
on at the Resort. CHECK IT OUT at: www.hiltonheadmotorcoachresort.com
Emily and Melissa also designed a new logo for our
resort. You can see it on our new web site and on our new merchandise.
In fact, you’ll be seeing it everywhere now! It was designed
to represent our Resort statement all of our owners all ready know
- “It’s Paradise” here!
Resort
Merchandise
Check out our new T-Shirts and Hats with our WONDERFUL new logo on them! And
coming for the fall season will be fleece to keep us warm on those sunny but
cool days. There will also be some small items, but I’m not going to
tell you – you’ll have to check them out…
25th
Anniversary
Yes, that’s right. We are 25 years young and the FIRST motorcoach only
resort in the world. That is really something to be proud of. We plan on a
celebration at the semi-annual meeting in November. Any by the way, that date
is November 13, 2004. The Annual Meeting and activities will be April 4-9,
2005. We hope everyone can attend!
E-Mail
Addresses
We are in to process of gathering EVERYONE’S e-mail address so we can
share current information with all owners. We can save significant money and
time in distributing everything that the owners need and need to know! And
any request or question you have can be then sent to the proper person to answer
it. Just send us an e-mail and
we will then have your current e-mail address – Thanks!
